some explanations from internet

when your in the network and you access bbb.example.com on it's public IP address, the firewall sends the package back to the internal BigBlueButton server. In effect, the path of the packets looks like a hairpin. If your firewall does not support hairpin NAT, your users would not be able to access the BigBlueButton server from within the firewall.

case of a network connectivity problem. Setting up a TURN server is always recommended, especially when you have a firewalled setup like yours (inside/outside university campus). Alongside using a TURN server, you should check again if you opened the recommended UDP ports in your firewall so it'll reduce the number of TURN user
